The Aims and Objectives of the Society are:


(a) The encouragement, the improvement and the development of Horticulture in New South Wales.

(b) To extend the membership of the Society and to stimulate the interest of persons in the activities and business of the Society.

(c) To arrange and conduct competitions and public or private exhibitions in all aspects of Horticulture, at such times as the Committee may consider desirable.

(d) To hold meetings for the exhibition and the examination of vegetable products and such other objects as the Committee may determine, and lectures, reading of papers and information brought before the Society.

(e) Publish, when possible, essays, papers and information brought before the Society.

(f) To print and publish any newspaper, pamphlet, book, journal, magazine or leaflet that the Society may think desirable for the promotion and furtherance of any of its objects.

(g) To promote intercourse with kindred institutions in the Commonwealth of Australia and elsewhere, and, if necessary affiliate with such Society or institution.

(h) To accept the affiliation of other institutions and Societies.

(i) To establish judging standards and rules for Horticulture displays and competitions.

(j) To conduct classes for members in judging standards, and hold examinations for the appointment of judges.

(k) To perform such other matters as in the opinion of the Society or its committee are for the benefit of the Society and/or the advancement of Horticulture.




Isn't this just a wonderful floral display of our state floral emblem? It was taken at Government House, Sydney and features thousands of Waratah blooms.
